1. How do I know that the caregiver you provide is safe to work with my family?

Presidio Home Care has an extremely rigorous caregiver screening process. As far as we are concerned, if our caregivers are sub-par, then so are we. Therefore, in order to insure that only the highest quality caregivers are a part of our family, we:

  • Check all caregivers’ backgrounds at a state and federal level
  • Conduct a motor vehicle records check
  • Require TB tests
  • Conduct random drug screenings
  • Check professional references
  • Personally interview each applicant
  • On top of that, Presidio Home Care requires that all of its caregivers complete at least 5 hours of company-paid continuing education per year in order to remain informed and up to date with current care giving practices
2. Will my health insurance cover Home Care?

Some long term insurance policies do cover Home Care. Unfortunately, at this time, most HMO and PPO policies do not cover non-medical supportive services, even if you require these services due to medically related issues. We are more than happy to work with your insurance provider to determine your eligibility.

3. Do I have to sign a long-term contract that will bind me to service and bills?

No. Presidio Home Care utilizes a “Client Services Agreement” which simply outlines the schedule you initially choose, the services that we provide, and the tenants of our professional relationship. You may, at any time, change the schedule or cancel our services.

4. Do you provide services in assisted living facilities and nursing homes?

Yes. Because our staff is employed, insured, and bonded by us they can assist you wherever you are. If you’re already a client of Presidio Home Care and would like to bring your caregiver along with you when you move into an assisted living facility we can do that for you. And if you’re already living in a group home and would just like a little extra help to remain independent, we can make that happen too.

5. Is Home Care with Presidio more cost effective than an assisted living facility or a nursing home?

Yes. On average our services cost about 50% less than an assisted living facility and around 65% less than a nursing home.

6. How quickly can we get started?

We can normally bring you into the Presidio Home Care family and have your service started within 48 hours of your FREE in-home consultation.

7. How do I get started?

Give us a call, or an email, to arrange a FREE no obligation consultation and safety inspection. Our staff will work around your schedule and come to you. Once we have determined the level of care that you (or your loved one) require, we will provide you with a caregiver who we feel can best meet your needs. If you are not happy with that caregiver, we will provide others until you have found the person that is right for you.

8. What kind of services do you provide?

Our services are designed to help you remain independent by providing assistance with your normal activities of daily living. These services range from simple tasks like fall prevention and medication / fluid reminders to more specialized responsibilities like bathing assistance and personal hygiene care. For a more complete list of examples please see our “Our Services” page.

9. What happens if my caregiver gets sick?

As we invest a great deal in our caregivers, their health is of the utmost importance to us. However, the health of our clients is our first priority, so if one of our caregivers starts to feel a bit under the weather, we ask that they do not come in to work, so as not to transfer that illness to the client. In cases like this we provide a different caregiver as a replacement, unless directed otherwise by you.

10. Who pays the caregiver, you or me?

Your caregiver is an employee of Presidio Home Care which means we handle all the administrative responsibilities such as billing, payroll, taxes, and insurance. As a company policy, your caregiver has been instructed to NOT accept any form of payment or gratuity from you.

11. What are your rates?

Rates vary depending on the level of service your loved one might require. Shoot us an email or give our office a call to discuss your particular situation and to determine where you might fall in our pricing schedule. Contact us here!

12. Is Home Care tax deductable?

Home Care can be tax deductable depending on your loved one’s physical and/or mental condition and the level of service that they require. Once a part of the Presidio family, we will work with your financial advisor or CPA and your physician to ensure that our relationship is as cost effective as possible.
